While vacationing on Oahu in the early 2000’s, Daniel (Danny) Kupper recognized an opportunity in the residential and commercial painting business. As the owner of a painting business in Oregon at the time, he knew his extensive experience as a painting contractor in Oregon’s rainy climate would translate well to the tropical environment of Hawaii.
DK Painting opened for business in 2010 in Honolulu, the state’s largest commercial painting market. They introduced a higher quality exterior coating to this market, and currently meet or exceed the industry standards specified in most commercial bids. Shopping centers, hotels and AOAO communities are their areas of expertise.
Danny and his team dedicate themselves to providing dynamic value to their clients, prioritizing fluid and open communication, superior customer care and service, and a commitment to quality for every project.
The leadership team knows this process starts with the people they hire.

Daniel (Danny) Kupper – Owner & President
Danny has been in the residential and commercial painting business since 1999. Within his first year of working as a painting contractor in the Portland, Oregon area, he had started his own painting business. Once established in the Pacific Northwest, he decided to move to Hawaii in 2010 to open a second location.
Danny’s expertise is in field production, project management, training & mentoring, and accurate estimating. These skill sets combine to provide a high level of craftsmanship on all of his projects, with superior customer service as his main priority.
Ross Purgatorio – Vice President
Ross entered the painting industry in 1997. Like Danny, he started off as a painter, then moved to the supplier side, working as a District Manager for a major paint manufacturing company for 19 years. Ross joined DK Painting in early 2020, filling the role of VP of Sales/Business Development. He brings extensive coatings knowledge, strong communication skills, and creative structure that has streamlined the company in several significant ways.
